WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Members of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office went grocery shopping to collect Thanksgiving favorites for families in need.
On Saturday, Nov. 18, those families picked them up.
They got a turkey, mashed potatoes, canned goods, and stuffing.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office partnered with the Urban Ecology Center and Metcalfe's Market in Wauwatosa to put on this event.
"Every year we come together, and we get different partnerships in the community, and they help us identify families who are either struggling or just need some extra support or are deserving of something like this. And they put them on the list, and we contact them, and we let them know where to come and they come and grab their meals," said Deputy Kristine Rodriguez.
On Monday, Nov. 20, the sheriff's office is having their "super" event, where it is first come, first served.
