Milwaukee County to begin 2026 lifeguard training; starting pay $17.49/hour

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- If you've ever thought about becoming a lifeguard, now is your chance! Milwaukee County Parks announced Monday, Jan. 5, it is the beginning to recruit lifeguards for the 2026 summer season. Starting wages start at $17.49 per hour. 

According to a news release, there will be free, mandatory in-water training for those interested in becoming a lifeguard to ensure all candidates are prepared. 

Here's a look at the 2026 training schedule: 

  • Session 1: February 17 – March 5, Pulaski Pool, with the exam on March 7
  • Session 2: March 23 – April 8, Noyes Pool, with the exam on April 11
  • Session 3: April 14 – April 30, Pulaski Pool, with the exam on May 2

Training Locations

  • Pulaski Pool: 2701 S. 16th St.
  • Noyes Pool: 8235 W. Good Hope Road

“Working at Milwaukee County Parks is a great way for teens and young adults to get involved in the community while earning a paycheck,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “We’re looking for lifeguards this summer to help keep our pools and aquatic spaces safe, fun, and welcoming for everyone.
