Milwaukee Diaper Mission celebrates opening of new and bigger space
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Diaper Mission is celebrating a major milestone. On Wednesday, April 23, he nonprofit held a ribbon cutting to officially open its new warehouse which is triple the space the organization had before.
Milwaukee Diaper Mission says the new space will allow them to expand their mission of providing free diaper and period supplies to those in need.
The operations manager for Milwaukee Diaper Mission says having clean hygiene products is a basic human right.
"Every month, 100 people come through these doors, and they spend their time making diapers and period kits for people they probably won't even meet but that time really makes Milwaukee into the kind of community where your neighbors care you have enough to get by," said Lily Grant, operations manager with the Milwaukee Diaper Mission.
According to the National Diaper Bank Network, one in two families struggle to buy basic hygiene products like diapers and period products.
Milwaukee Diaper Mission says they plan on announcing more diaper distribution locations in the next month.
Meantime, CBS 58 and Milwaukee Diaper Mission want to make sure no child goes without clean diapers. That’s why we’re hosting the Mother’s Day Diaper Drive. Now through May 11, drop off diapers -- especially sizes 4-5 -- at any area UScellular store.
