Milwaukee Film Festival preview includes look at 'The Big Cheese,' documentary about competitive cheesemongering
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The organizers of the Milwaukee Film Festival have mastered the fine art of teasing the public. On Tuesday, March 24, they invited us for a sneak preview of an event that will feature almost 250 films over 15 days.
Last week, we learned that one of the spotlight films at the festival will be the documentary "Ueck," about Milwaukee's beloved ballplayer and broadcaster.
Tuesday, festival organizers revealed more highlights -- but not everything. The entire list drops Friday, March 26.
But one of the movies we can tell you about is a documentary that should be of special interest to hometown audiences.
"Our centerpiece film this year is a documentary called, 'The Big Cheese.' This is a film that when it was playing at Doc NYC I said oh, I need a screener of that because hello Wisconsin," said Cara Ogburn, Milwaukee Film artistic director.
"The Big Cheese" is about the world of competitive cheesemongering. A cheesemonger is a kind of a fancy title for someone who knows a lot about the dairy product that made Wisconsin famous.
The Milwaukee Film Festival runs from April 16-30.
