MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 29-year-old driver is dead after slamming into a house near 19th and Windlake Ave. early Saturday morning, Nov. 22.
Milwaukee police say the driver crashed into the house just before 3 a.m. Saturday morning, Nov. 22. The impact destroyed the front porch, leaving debris across the yard.
Homeowner Shane Mervyn was inside and says the crash jolted him awake instantly.
"I heard the crash and looked at the clock," said Mervyn. "It was 2:51 a.m. and I come to find a car had destroyed my front porch and the driver, unfortunately, was still in the car not alive."
Mervyn says that police told him the driver may have been intoxicated and going more than 80 miles per hour.
Mervyn has lived here for 48 years and says this isn't new for this street.

The people driving here are dangerous, the road is just the road," he said. "That corner house has been hit a few times. They've had to put in new barriers on that curb multiple times."
Despite the damage, Mervyn says there's no structural issues or broken windows, meaning he can still stay in his home.
Mervyn said three dogs were inside at the time but were unharmed.
No one inside was hurt.
CBS 58 reached out to Milwaukee police for more information regarding the crash.
