Milwaukee Fire Department Responds to Two House Fires

The Milwaukee Fire Department  responded  to two fires within an hour of each other this morning.

The first fire was reported around 3:20 AM in a vacant home at  N 10th and W Wright Streets.  According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, when crews arrived, the structure was fully involved, putting them in a defensive posture.    Firefighters fought the blaze in the two-story wood framed house for about three hours.  After a search of the building it was determined that no one was in the building at the time of the fire.  Damage is estimated at 250-thousand dollars.   The cause of the fire is being investigated

A second house fire was reported at 4:20 AM in a one-story ranch style home at N 83rd Street and W Acacia Streets.   According to the MFD, when crews arrived, the fire was in an advanced stage, but because the home was closed up, the fire was starving for oxygen and was extinguished within 90 minutes.  No one was home at the time of the fire.   The cause of the fire, which was located in a rear bedroom, is under investigation.    Damage to the home is estimated at 120-thousand dollars.
