MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Many people are expected to come to Milwaukee from out of town this week, specifically for the Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival -- and hotels are booking up fast. Here's a deep dive on places around town that may still be available, but at a pretty high cost as of Monday (July 10) afternoon.
The iconic Iron Horse Hotel, located minutes away from the Harley-Davidson Museum, has a special package rate for those coming to the 120th anniversary celebration, but they're already booked from Wednesday to Sunday. One night alone costs as much as $839.
A quick skim through the 'Visit Milwaukee' hotels tab shows the Crowne Plaza, Best Western and the Hilton currently start in the $300 range, the Hyatt in the $400s and the Courtyard by Marriott at a little over $500.
"We have some rooms available, still available, not many but you know, get 'em while it's hot I will say," said the Saint Kate The Arts Hotel General Manager Dana Johnson.
The few rooms available at the Saint Kate also start at the $400 price range.
Even Airbnb's across the Milwaukee area have skyrocketed. Prices ranging anywhere from $300 to more than $2,000 a night.
Johnson told CBS 58 News that even if you can’t afford to stay in downtown, you can still enjoy all that it offers.
"I mean you really could just hang out in this hotel and eat and listen to live music, and it can be your whole weekend," she added.
