Storm damage leaves roof torn off business, barn destroyed in Franksville
FRANKSVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Metal roofing twisted on the ground and insulation scattered is what Friday night’s storm left behind in Franksville.
At All State Sandblasting and Paint, the wind took a big chunk of the roof with it.
Jack Bruley, owner of All State Sand Blasting-Paint, said he got the call before he saw the damage himself.
“I got a call this morning from the sheriff's department saying that my building was coming around the neighborhood," he said.
When he arrived, the damage was already done, “I come out here and half the roof is gone.”
“One semi flipped over totally on its side and the other one's up at an angle," he continued.
A few minutes away, the scene looks different, but the damage is just as visible.
Grady Goetzke, who helped clean up downed trees said, “Some strong winds came through and knocked the barn down, took two trees down.”
He didn’t wait around and began cutting and clearing trees to open access to the property.
“We’re just here trying to clean it up. We brought our chainsaw and tractor over because this is our friend's house," he said. "We’re cleaning it up for him getting it accessible because it was covering the driveway no one could get in or out"
What used to be a barn is now just debris on the ground.
He said, “The blocks it was up on you can see the corner post it was up that high, the actual barn.”
Back at the business, crews also worked to clean up roofing and materials blown across the area.
“Some of the roofing was on the other side of highway 45 here so we had to take a trailer and pick up the neighborhood there was insulation all over the place," Bruley said.
Despite the damage, he said it could have been worse.
He said, “The rest of the buildings around here are all fine, which is good. At least it didn't do a big area of damage, and nobody got hurt.”
