Milwaukee man charged in crash with school bus that injured 3-year-old

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man has now been charged in connection to a crash involving a school bus

Back on Nov. 29, Milwaukee police tried to stop the driver of a car involved in a Chicago homicide.

The officers were led on a chase throughout the city, ending when the suspect hit a school bus near 76th and Capitol, causing the bus to flip on its side and cause a secondary crash.

Police say 26-year-old Elijahwan Shabazz attempted to flee the scene on foot but was arrested after a brief chase. He's charged with reckless endangerment, neglecting a child, fleeing officers and more.

Officials say his 3-year-old child was injured in the crash, along with several others, including the school bus driver.

A complaint says the driver had just dropped of 35 students at school prior to the crash. No children were on the bus at the time of the incident.

He's due in court next week.
