Milwaukee man accused of burglarizing bank, killing woman in Kentucky
SPRINGFIELD, KY. (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man was arrested, accused of murdering a woman and injuring another in Kentucky.
According to the Kentucky State Police, a man from Milwaukee was charged with Murder, Murder (Attempt) and Burglary - 1st degree.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, officers responded to a burglary that happened on Wednesday, Dec. 25 around 5:56 p.m. near Swan and Hampton in Milwaukee. MPD says the suspect forced entry to a closed business and removed property.
After the burglary in Milwaukee, on Friday, Dec. 27, Kentucky police say they were called to a residence in Springfield for a report of a shooting incident. Kentucky police say a preliminary investigation showed an individual forced entry to a home and shot two women before fleeing the area. A 31-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the residence. A 52-year-old victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
Kentucky State Police say the investigation led to searching for the man as the suspect and issued a statewide bulletin. Authorities say the bulletin led to an officer in Shelbyville to initiate a traffic stop and the operator of the stop was identified as the suspect.
Milwaukee police say they are not releasing identity of the suspect at this time, as he has not been charged with the burglary in Milwaukee yet.
The suspect was taken to the Shelby County Detention Center in Kentucky.
The investigation is ongoing.
