MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man was sentenced to one year in prison Friday, Sept. 18, for a deadly hit-and-run in May.

Marshall Hill Family

Court records show 33-year-old Sean Evans Jr. pleaded guilty to a charge of hit-and-run involving death during a July plea hearing.

Prosecutors say back on May 11, Evans hit and killed 71-year-old Marshall Hill near 43rd and Silver Spring.

The criminal complaint says when questioned by detectives, Evans admitted to driving the vehicle involved, and said he didn't stop because he panicked.

Records show Evans' time served will be followed by a maximum of six years extended supervision, with no driving privileges for five years.

As a condition of supervision, he must write a letter of apology to the victim's family.
