Milwaukee man sentenced to 8 years for 2020 fentanyl death

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 23-year-old Milwaukee man has been sentenced in connection with a 2020 fentanyl death that occurred in Fond du Lac County.
According to a news release, Judge Anthony Nehls sentenced Derrise Lamon Townsend Jr. to eight years of initial confinement and seven years of extended supervision for first degree reckless homicide.
The maximum sentence Townsend Jr. faced was up to 25 years of initial prison confinement and 15 years of extended supervision. Officials say he has another reckless homicide charge in Milwaukee County that remains open.
This case was investigated by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney.
