Milwaukee nonprofit hosts 'Achieve the Dream' event to help aspiring homeowners

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A nonprofit is hoping to turn residents' dreams of homeownership into reality this weekend.

The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, or NACA, is holding its "Achieve the Dream" event in Milwaukee.

The event gives attendees a streamlined look at NACA's four-step homeownership process and connects prospective buyers with resources designed to help them purchase a home.

CBS 58 spoke with NACA founder Bruce Marks about the opportunities available to people looking to become homeowners.

"There is so much opportunity, not just in Milwaukee but in the surrounding neighborhoods and areas, for affordable homeownership," Marks said. "People have lost hope, and that's what we are coming here and doing. We are telling people, it can happen, and it does happen."

The event runs through Sunday evening at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee.
