Milwaukee Oktoberfest returns to War Memorial Center this weekend

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The American Legion's 103rd National Convention is taking place in Milwaukee this weekend, Aug. 26-28.

Veterans from around the globe will be there for the annual meet-up to discuss how the legion can continue to support veterans and their families.

As part of a service day, legion members were at the War Memorial Center helping to revitalize some of the memorials. They polished the World War II memorial and added some paint to each branch of service memorial.

Sunday will be Legion Day during Oktoberfest at the War Memorial Center.

"A lot of people as they're contacting me saying I'm looking forward to getting to Milwaukee. It was all about am I going to have bratwurst and polka," said Denise Rohan,

The public is invited to Oktoberfest along the lake. There will be a Dachshund competition, a Miss Oktoberfest competition, and a stein holding competition. There's also a 5K Friday night, and of course Oktoberfest beer and brats all weekend.
