MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 5-year-old girl was taken to the hospital after police say she was shot in the leg during an apparent road rage incident.

It happened Thursday around 10:45 a.m. near 44th and Keefe in Milwaukee.

Police say the suspect got out of a car and began firing shots into another car, wounding the 5-year-old girl. Investigators say she was riding in the backseat of a car her father was driving..

The shooting comes nearly two weeks after a 3-year-old girl was shot and killed, also because of road rage.

A witness described what he saw and heard.

"It hurts. I heard all four shots, pop, pop, pop, pop! And came out. I didn't see nothing but a car from one end shooting somebody at the other end. Young folks, young folks," Lawrence Wyatt Sr. said.

The young girl was taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to be okay

No one is in custody at this time. Police have not disclosed any information about the car the suspect was driving but say there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
