MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales says crime is down in the city so far this year.
There's been a 17% drop in the number of homicides compared to this time last year.
Morales has been the city's top cop for 16 months now and he says although there's a dip in homicides, there's a lot of work to do.
"We want to believe that no shooting is acceptable, no homicide is acceptable, gun violence has to drop and that's what the focus should be through the department and looking at their neighborhoods and finding ways to address the problems," said Chief Alfonso Morales.
Morales says one key part to keeping crime down is strengthening the department's partnership with local agencies.
