Milwaukee police investigate attempted homicide after shots fired at officers

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating an attempted homicide following an incident Thursday, Sept. 12 where shots were reportedly fired at officers near 23rd and Keefe.

Officials say that the situation began at around 7 p.m. when officers spotted a stolen car that had been carjacked earlier that day near 10th and Keefe.

As officers approached, the car reportedly fled at a high rate of speed, leading to a pursuit that ended near 23rd and Finn.

During the pursuit, police say a 16-year-old boy shot a firearm at officers. No officers were struck, and no shots were returned.

The vehicle's occupants fled on foot, according to police. A 17-year-old male driver was taken into custody near 23rd and Townsend, while the aforementioned 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old were caught after a brief foot chase.
