OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Oak Creek police confirm James "Jimmy" Nowak was seriously injured in a crash involving a semi-truck in Oak Creek Monday night, Dec. 3.
Police said he was in "grave condition" as of 6 p.m. Monday evening, and not expected to survive.
The 30-year-old Milwaukee police officer was off duty when the car he was driving crashed into the semi.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue, just south of College Avenue.
Officials said Nowak was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Froedtert Hospital. He was the only occupant of the car.
Nowak was partners with fallen MPD Officer Peter Jerving, who was killed in the line of duty in February during a chase on the city's south side.
