MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for a first-degree sexual assault.
Police say it happened between 11:45 and 11:51 p.m. on Wednesday.
Neighbors at the scene say a woman was raped in an alley near the intersection of 40th and North Avenue.
The suspect is described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, standing 5’8” to 5’9” with a dark complexion, a short afro with twists in the front, and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black Adidas jogging pants.
The suspect is armed with a silver and black handgun.
A nearby business says police are currently going through their surveillance footage and two nearby houses had cameras in the alley. Neighbors say a lot of kids play outside in the neighborhood, and they're concerned.
"It's sad that that's going on in our neighborhood," said neighbor Linda Garcia. "We do walks and check on the kids that are outside and stuff, and we're going to keep a closer eye from now on."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (414) 935-7360.
