MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) teamed up with local faith-based organizations over the weekend to give back to the community.
Friday through Sunday, different police districts held fun events with local churches, like a basketball game, movie night, resource fair and more.
On Monday, Oct. 11, MPD wrapped up the weekend with a community giveaway at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Van Buren.
They gave away socks, ice cream and bagged lunches to anyone in need.
"Our faith-based institutes are key pillars within our community, so if we can partner with them, there's nothing we can't do in our community," said MPD Sgt. Amy Rivera.
This is the first year Milwaukee police have participated in National Faith & Blue weekend.
They hope to bring it back next year, bigger and better.
