Milwaukee Receives $750,000 to Fund Streetcar on Martin Luther King Drive and Walkers Point

Milwaukee will get more money from the federal government for the coming streetcar system.

According to a release from the Transportation Department, $750,000 will be sent to the city.

The money is specifically targeted for planning an extension of the streetcar into neighborhoods along Martin Luther King Drive and in Walker's Point.

Construction on the base streetcar system, serving downtown is scheduled to start soon.

The construction will start first on a maintenance facility and then the tracks after winter.
