MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee residents are sharing their opinions about the city hosting the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
The announcement was made on Monday morning. It will be the biggest event the city has ever hosted, bringing in more than 50,000 visitors.
It is estimated to have a $200-300 million impact on the area.
“It’s good when you bring an event that big to Milwaukee, to bring eyes and more people to Wisconsin to see what Milwaukee is all about,” Resident Deangelo Nash said.
Some say they hope public transportation throughout the area gets better before the convention.
“Maybe we should improve our downtown area to accommodate all of this, should be good no matter what political leaning you are on," Charles Yamat said.
Residents also hope the convention will encourage more young people to get out and vote.
