West Allis officer injured as suspect flees traffic stop

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A West Allis police officer is recovering after being hit by a car fleeing from a traffic stop Monday, March 23. 

Police say the driver was pulled over near 82nd and Greenfield but sped away, and as they fled, a portion of their vehicle struck an officer. 

West Allis police say a pursuit began, ending when the fleeing driver crashed into a truck about three blocks north. 

The driver ran but was arrested in a nearby neighborhood. A passenger in their vehicle was also arrested. 

Police say the officer involved is okay, and an investigation is ongoing.
