Milwaukee shoplifter caught on camera stealing hundreds of dollars worth of accessories
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A shoplifter took about $1,000 worth of dog accessories from a Milwaukee pet store, and they caught the thief on camera.
Surveillance video shows a woman taking high-end dog accessory brands like Gucci and Chanel from Lue-Lue's World, and stuffing them in her clothing. She walked into the store Thursday pretending to be a customer, while she lingered in the store.
The owners, Aminah and Wajdi Hamdan are frustrated.
"This is wrong, especially for someone trying to raise kids, that's like someone's mortgage payment," Co-Owner of Lue-Lue's World Aminah Hamdan said.
As Wajdi was leaving to pick their children up from school, Aminah was busy grooming dogs. Once Wajdi left, the video shows the shoplifter start taking items from the other side of the store. The owners say the woman was in the store recently and believed she knew when Wajdi left to pick their kids up every day.
The owners didn't notice anything was missing until they closed.
"I find all these empty hangers, and I'm like what is this, seriously?," Aminah said.
She hopes the woman will come forward.
"What you did was extremely wrong," Aminah said.
The owners are hoping sharing their surveillance video could help prevent other small businesses from getting hit.
"She looked very comfortable with it as if she's done this multiple times before," Aminah said. "I think it's time to stop her," Wajdi continued.
The owners have already added more security cameras, plan to have two people in the store at all times, and will be more alert.
Milwaukee Police are still looking for the suspect.
