Milwaukee Tuition Promise to help pay tuition for over 1,000 UWM students

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will introduce the Milwaukee Tuition Promise program in the Fall 2024 term for incoming eligible students.

Modeled after the Wisconsin Tuition Promise, the program aims to cover full tuition costs for up to four years. Private funding from the UWM Foundation is being utilized to help fund the initiative.

Students qualifying for the program must have family incomes below $62,000 or be independent earners with incomes less than $31,000 annually, and they must be Wisconsin residents attending full-time and seeking their first bachelor’s or associate degree.

The financial aid fills in the "last dollar" gap after federal and state grants.

To participate, students are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and meet other criteria.

The program is expected to assist over 1,000 students and will not affect those already participating in the Wisconsin Tuition Promise.
