Milwaukee VA holding nurse hiring fair to fill over 134 positions

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Veterans Affairs Medical Center is holding a Nurse Career Fair Wednesday and Thursday, April 10 and 11, to hire more than 134 positions for all shifts and departments.

The event takes place 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Matousek Auditorium and 70-D classrooms.

The medical center has openings for 97 registered nurses, four licensed practical nurses and 33 nursing assistants.

Salaries range from $58,218 to $101,429 for RNs; $36,036 to $52,781 for LPNs; and $28,177 to $46,004 for nursing assistants, based on experience and education. All three also receive a 13 percent shift and 25 percent weekend differential.

RNs receive 26 days annual leave, 13 sick days and paid holidays. LPNs and nursing assistants start at 13 days annual leave and 13 sick days per year, plus paid holidays.
