Milwaukee's downtown holiday light festival will set city aglow Nov. 21 through Jan. 1

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Downtown Milwaukee will once again be the spot showcasing more than 500,000 festival lights and dozens of animated displays for the holiday season.

The 26th annual Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival, presented by Johnson Financial Group, returns Nov. 21 through Jan. 1.

Three downtown parks will transform into festive winter scenes:

  • "Community Spirit Park” at Cathedral Square Park
  • "Santa's Celebration Square" at Zeidler Union Square
  • “¡Felices Fiestas!” at Pere Marquette Park

According to a news release from Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, the fun will begin with a switch-flipping ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Pere Marquette Park, located at 900 N. Plankinton Ave. The kick-off ceremony will also include live music, dance acts, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, a fireworks ceremony and more.

“The Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival presented by Johnson Financial Group is a fun and festive tradition for Milwaukee-area families,” said Beth Weirick, CEO of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. “We look forward to delivering another magical season filled with glittery lights and interactive holiday displays where new memories can be ignited.”
