Milwaukee's Mega Media Xchange to close permanently, making way for development of 11-story hotel

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Mega Media Xchange announced Friday that their store located on Farwell Avenue will be closing permanently after 15 years.

In a post on social media, the store said their last day will be sometime in the next two months, in order to make way for the new east side hotel development.

The Milwaukee Common Council gave its stamp of approval for the development of a high-end hotel in the Brady Street neighborhood back in April.

Alders voted to approve a zoning change that will allow the 11-story hotel with about 130 rooms to be constructed at 1709-1723 North Farwell Avenue.

Construction could begin as early as this year.
