More felony charges filed against former MPS board member Aisha Carr
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More felony charges have been files against Aisha Carr, a former Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) board member. Carr was already facing charges of food stamp and public assistance fraud and is now charged with 11 more felonies.
According to court documents, the following charges were filed against Carr on April 22:
- Campaign Finance - False Reports & Statements - intentional - over $100 (three counts)
- Forgery-uttering (three counts)
- Campaign Finance - Accept Unlawful Disbursement - intentional - over $100 (five counts)
According to a criminal complaint, Carr was required to file campaign finance reports, but the reports contained inaccurate information regarding account balances and disbursements. Investigators believe Carr also used campaign funds for personal expenses.
The complaint says a review of a bank account associated with Carr's campaign showed in just four months, she received $34,015 in campaign contribution in the form of checks -- all made out to "AISHA CARR FOR MILWAUKEE" -- and spent it all within five months by only reporting campaign expenditures in that time period totaling $23,304.37.
Back in June of 2024, Carr was charged with theft and misconduct in office for allegedly not living in the district she represented while serving on the MPS board.
In September 2024, Carr was charged with one count of food stamp fraud and one count of public assistance fraud. In that case, she's accused of lying about her income when applying for food stamp benefits and receiving more than $2,800 in overpayments.
Both cases from 2024 remain open and ongoing.
