WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two local police departments are searching for suspects after thefts at two Apple stores around 30 minutes apart.

Wauwatosa Police say they're looking for three men who stole more than $6,000 worth of products on January 30 from the store at Mayfair Mall.

The theft was caught on security camera.

In the video, the suspects can be seen hiding Apple pencils in their pants and coats. Then, one of the suspects grabs a handful of Apple AirPods from an employee. After that, the suspects ran out.

"It is surprising that someone would be so brazen and go in, select things in the wide open in the middle of the day," Wauwatosa Police Sgt. Katie Gierach said.

Thirty minutes before the theft happened in Wauwatosa, Glendale Police responded to the Bayshore Mall for a similar theft at that Apple store. According to a police report, three suspects with the same descriptions stole more than $10,000 worth of merchandise.

Police say they believe the two crimes are connected.

“Apple employees did tell our officers that the Bayshore location had a very similar theft with the same suspects and we believe they are related," Gierach said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wauwatosa or Glendale Police Departments.
