MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Thousands were expected to walk in the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk at Henry Maier Festival Park on Sunday, Sept. 22.
However, due to the thunderstorms, they were forced to cancel.
For the 27th year, the walk honors those who lost their battle, encourages the women who continue to fight, and celebrates the survivors of breast cancer.
Executive Director of Susan G. Koman Wisconsin, Nikki Panico, says she's so grateful to those who came despite the rain.
"It is heartwarming for this community to come together even in rain and thunder, but mark my words, we aren't going anywhere we are going to still fight this battle even without walking together," said Panico.
Panico says they are just 57 thousand dollars away from their goal and all the money stays right here in Southeast Wisconsin.
