NOW: More vendors step up to help couples after sudden closure of downtown wedding venue

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's been over a week since news spread about a Milwaukee wedding venue's abrupt closure.

Plant No. 4 in the third ward is no longer operating, creating a nightmare for those who had bookings with them.

As couples and wedding planners impacted by Plant No. 4's surprise closure continue to scramble, more area vendors are coming forward offering help.

"We've seen the stories that are out there — the unfortunate stories about what has happened to these couples who thought that they had a great location for their wedding only to find out that wasn't the case," said Jay Saunders with Potawatomi Hotel and Casino.

Potawatomi Hotel and Casino are the latest to come forward offering options to couples impacted by the sudden closure of Milwaukee wedding venue Plant No. 4. It is operated by Black Swan MKE and court records show they've been evicted from the Milwaukee Street building. Couples complained online about not receiving any notice before the closure.

"We came up with some options to try to help some of these couples that are now franticly searching for a new venue or new option for their ceremony," said Saunders.

Potawatomi says it will waive fees for facility room rentals, hoping to ease the minds of impacted couples with last minute wedding dates.

"We'll work with them to be as accommodating as possible. We know this is an impossible situation. I've been through a wedding once and can only imagine what these people are going through right now/ we feel like we're members of the community and we want to reach out to help other members of the community as best we can who are in a difficult situation," said

We've been unable to reach the owners of Black Swan MKE for comment.
