MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Couples are now scrambling to find a new wedding venue after a Milwaukee Third Ward space abruptly closed. Amid the changes, local vendors are stepping in to offer last-minute help.

The wedding venue in question is Plant No. 4 on Milwaukee Street. It's operated by Black Swan MKE, but court records show the owners of this building sued to evict them back in November.

There is now a "space for lease sign" posted outside the building and on Google Maps, the location is listed as permanently closed.

This leaves couples who had upcoming weddings planned here at a loss.

"How unfortunate right. You spend all this time and money to create the day of your dreams and then all of a sudden this happens," said Andrea Hubbert, event planner at Oak Creek Community Center.

Oak Creek Community Center is opening their books to impacted couples with availability as early as May.

"We're very fortunate that we do have lots of flexibility and space so we can accommodate a lot of these last-minute bookings but there's other places that might not be able to do that," said Hubbert.

Understanding how hard it can be to find a venue, especially at the last minute, Hubbert says they're hoping to provide flexibility.

"The money that you spend on the deposits - room rentals and everything else that goes with that. There's a lot and to find out suddenly and abruptly that it's all gone. No more must be one of the hardest things to deal with," she said.

Other Milwaukee-area wedding venues took to social media to offer support to impacted couples.

CBS 58 reached out to Black Swan MKE for comment and have not yet heard back. Their website has been scrubbed of most of its former details and no longer shows Plant No. 4 as an available venue.
