Mother of Oak Creek teen reported missing charged with interfering with child custody
OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An Oak Creek woman is facing charges in connection to her daughter's disappearance.
The teen was reported missing and found safe last week after being gone for about a week.
Her mother, Luisa Asala of Burlington, is now charged with interfering with child custody.
According to a criminal complaint, an anonymous tip said students at Oak Creek East Middle School heard a rumor the 13-year-old was "fine and her mom was hiding her."
The complaint says investigators spoke with Asala's workplace manager, who told officers Asala had not cried and did not seem upset about the fact her daughter was missing. She reportedly did not miss any work since her daughter went missing, and was allegedly mad the girl's grandmother was on the news about the disappearance.
Asala is being held on $20,000 bond.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 20.
