Mother of woman killed in Colombia testifies on day 2 of John Poulos femicide trial

FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The trial of Franklin native John Poulos is now on hold in Colombia until the new year.

Poulos is charged with killing his girlfriend, Valentina Trespalacios, who was a DJ in Colombia.

On the first day of the trial Monday, Trespalacios' mother called Poulos "abusive and controlling" during her testimony.

Tuesday morning, several detectives testified, reporting what they saw on Jan. 22 during their investigation.

The doctor who performed the autopsy on Trespalacios said he found signs of strangulation and blunt force trauma to her back, forearms and feet.

The trial is now in recess. More testimony is expected when it resumes on Jan. 25.
