Mount Pleasant Police locate deceased body in pond
Mount Pleasant Police Department found a body in a retention pond that is often used for fishing Sunday morning. Initial investigations into the death did not reveal anything suspicious.
Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a request from Fox Lake, Ill. Police Department to check on the welfare of an individual not seen or heard from in over a day. Cell tower information showed that the individual may have been in the south central area of Mount Pleasant and information from the family said he may be fishing in Mount Pleasant.
A Mount Pleasant Police Department Officer located the individual's vehicle in the 3400 block of S. Oakes Rd., near a retention pond that is often used for fishing. After checking the area, officers located the individual deceased, partially submerged in the pond.
The individual's body was taken out of the water by the South Shore Fire Department and transferred to the Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office for the final cause of death.
