MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police shot and injured a 19-year-old man during a struggle late Monday night near 7th and Arthur.
Officers report they were in the area seeking a subject wanted for sexual assault of a child and child enticement.
While they were communicating with the suspect, police say he pulled out a firearm and a struggle ensued between two officers and the suspect.
One of the officers discharged his firearm, striking the suspect, who was a 19-year-old man. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
The suspect was arrested as criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
The officer that discharged his firearm is a 35-year-old man with over eight years of service. He will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved shootings.
The Milwaukee Police Homicide Unit will be investigating this incident which is fluid and ongoing.
