NOW: Nearly 200 artists showcase work at 12th annual Third Ward Art Festival

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a beautiful day for some time downtown. Art lovers gathered for the annual Third Ward Festival on Sunday, Sept. 1.

Broadway was transformed into a showcase with work from nearly 200 artists, creating everything from paintings, photography, jewelry, and much more.

The free event also featured live music on two stages, food from local restaurants, and drinks from nearby bars.

Organizers tell us both the community and local businesses are thrilled to see the festival return this year.

"They're so appreciative to have the show, to having some event like this Labor Day weekend. It's been incredibly positive, the businesses too have been happy, and the Historic Third Ward is just over the moon on the event," said Amy Amdur, producer.

This was the 12th year of the festival and it's seeing an expansion this time around. The festival used to take place on three blocks of Broadway between St. Paul and Menomonee. Now, it takes up the cross streets in between to incorporate more businesses into the festival.
