WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha County Parks unveiled a new fully accessible fishing pier at Fox River Park on Thursday, Aug. 29. The additions include a walking path, fishing and observation deck, as well as a canoe and kayak launch.
This marks the second phase of improvements at the park. The first phase involved erosion prevention and repairing the embankment.
Steve Brunner, assistant park manager, said the community is already taking advantage of the new features.
"There's definitely a need in this area for something like this, and we're getting a lot of positive feedback and people seem to enjoy it, so it's just really, really cool to see," he said.
The project was funded entirely by grants.
The Fox River is home to fish species including muskie, largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye.
