MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's efforts to revitalize the Bronzeville neighborhood continue this week.
Versiti's new blood center is moving into the ThriveOn King development.
Besides collecting valuable blood donations, Versiti on King will also act as a resource center for families living in the area, teaching people about conditions that commonly affect communities of color.
Versiti leadership says being closer to their patients is hugely important.
"For us to have a permanent presence in this ZIP code, where we're listening to the community to understand what they need and then helping to elevate their health outcomes, it's critical," said Chris Miskel, president and CEO of Versiti.
The new blood center is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Fridays and Saturdays.
