Lisbon Avenue reconstruction breaks ground in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee already has world-class sculptures lining Wisconsin Avenue, now local bus shelters are turning into works of art.
A painting by artist CK Ledesma is now displayed at a shelter at Humboldt and North. A partnership between Milwaukee County Transit System and a group called Bus Art MKE have collaborated to give more local artists a chance to show off their work.
“Here’s what everybody here shares in common. We love Milwaukee. We love art. And we love Milwaukee art. Well here you’re going to get to see a lot more of it,” said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele.
“I’m honored. Hopefully, this is just going to explode into a bigger project that artists in Milwaukee are going to be represented and people are going to know that we are a thriving art scene,” said CK Ledesma.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help more local artists get their work displayed.
