Man in custody after physically assaulting another person, kicking police squad car

OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Oak Creek Police Department reported to call about an agitated man walking in the roadway near the intersection of S. Pennsylvania Ave. and E. Drexel Ave. earlier Wednesday night, Feb. 11. 

Eyewitness reports say that the man was punching, kicking and throwing items at passing cars. They also reported that the man physically assaulted another person. 

Upon arrival, the man kicked an Oak Creek police squad car. As they tried to arrest the man, he resisted attempts and police tased him to take him into custody. 

The man was identified as a 28-year-old man from South Milwaukee, and he displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a narcotic or another altered mental state police say. 

He was transported to a local hospital due to these symptoms for treatment. 

He was not injured and the citizen assaulted suffered from minor injuries but did not seek further medical treatment. 

The squad car suffered cosmetic damage. 

No officers were injured. 

Criminal charges of battery, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and resisting an arrest will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
