MUSKEGO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Alcohol carry-ins are out and now Muskego Police are also considering a ban on beer and wine sales at the popular summertime celebration held each year at Idle Isle Park the day before July 4.

Usually, you can buy a beer permit for $5 and you can drink beer or wine coolers that you bring on the island, but city officials say on July 3 you won't be able to bring any alcohol on the island.

The 3rd of July celebration includes a water ski show, kid-friendly activities, and a fireworks display set to music. It also usually includes beer sales, but this year they say they've decided to enact the policy because some people drank too much and became unruly, leading to arrests last year.

Officials say this will keep everyone safer during the celebration. Officials say a decision hasn't been made on whether vendors will sell alcohol or not. The "no alcohol" policy will only be in effect on the 3rd and beer permits will be available on the 4th. Some residents say they support the new policy.

"Probably in view of that amount of trouble they've been having. Some people can't handle a couple of drinks. Typically, I got the impression that just sit here and tip them all day anyway and how they get home after, that I don't know that either," said Muskego resident Garry Politoski.

There will also be no parking on the island on the 3rd but there will be places nearby to park.
