MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wounded Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) officer Daniel Gonzales was released from the hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The 34-year-old officer was shot in the line of duty last week.
Officer Gonzales was hit in the leg and chest and underwent emergency surgery.
He says he's grateful for all the support and says it's a miracle to be going home.
"Feels great. Nothing short of a miracle from everybody involved. From my first responders on scene and of course everybody here," said Officere Gonzales.
The suspect who shot Gonzales was killed in the incident.
