Officer shoots armed suspect on Milwaukee's north side

 Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Friday evening.

Officials say that two uniformed officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert near 26th and Nash around 4:50PM. 

The officers stopped two suspects, 15 and 16-year-old males, near 37th and Nash. The 15-year-old had a semiautomatic handgun. 

An officer shot the 15-year-old suspect during the stop. The suspect fled but was later apprehended by police. 

The suspect transferred to a hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition. 

The second suspect was also arrested. 

Police say the 42-year-old officer, who has 13 years of service, was not injured. He is placed on administrative duty during the investigation of the shooting.
