MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 3-year-old child was seriously injured Wednesday, Nov. 29, when a police pursuit ended in a crash near 76th and Capitol.
Around 11:48 a.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle wanted in connection to a Chicago homicide. Police say the driver refused to stop and a pursuit began, ending when the vehicle collided with a school bus.
Authorities say the school bus flipped, causing a secondary collision with several other vehicles.
The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 26-year-old man, fled on foot and was arrested after a brief pursuit.
Officials say two passengers in the suspect vehicle were injured, including a 26-year-old who suffered non-fatal injuries and the 3-year-old child, who the Milwaukee Fire Department says suffered a head injury and was transported to the hospital.
The 71-year-old school bus driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries, along with a 30-year-old driver involved in the secondary crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
Police say criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County DA's office.
