Officials: Man charged in Locust Street crash that killed passenger did not have license

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 34-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged in connection with a crash that left a 40-year-old woman dead. 

The crash happened Oct. 4 near the intersection of Locust and Richards. Police say 34-year-old Deangelo Lee Wallace lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious, but non-fatal injuries.

Wallace's passenger, identified as Julie Collins of Milwaukee, did not survive the crash.

According to a criminal complaint, witnesses say Wallace was speeding before the crash. 

Authorities report Wallace has never been issued a driver's license. 

Wallace has been charged with the following: 

  • Homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, habitual criminality repeater
  • Knowingly operate motor vehicle while suspended - causing death, habitual criminality repeater
