Officials: Racine woman ran over ex-boyfriend after finding him with another woman

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 35-year-old Racine woman is accused of running over her ex-boyfriend with a vehicle after she found him with another woman.

The incident happened on Dec. 15. According to a criminal complaint, police were called to a residence near Roosevelt and Byrd Avenues for a report of a man who had been run over by a vehicle.

Police spoke with witnesses, who stated Charnice Tibbs was in the area at the time "causing a disturbance." One witness said she saw Tibbs driving a Pontiac and her ex-boyfriend standing at the read of a Dodge van. The witness stated she saw Tibbs reverse the Pontiac and accelerate at a high rate of speed toward her ex-boyfriend and the Dodge van. Tibbs' vehicle struck the victim and "threw him to the grass" and then collided with the Dodge before leaving the scene.

Tibbs' ex-boyfriend told police he tried to get out of the way but couldn't move fast enough. The incident caused him pain and scrapes on his right leg, according to the complaint.

Charnice Tibbs was charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety and hit-and-run causing injury.
