Large crowd takes over street on Milwaukee's south side; vehicles towed, arrest made

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police issued a statement to CBS 58 on Monday, June 8 regarding the previously reported street takeover on Sunday evening, July 7.
In the statement, MPD says they responded to a street takeover Sunday at around 5:53 p.m. near 14th and Forest Home Ave. The gathering later moved to the area of 12th and Mitchell.
MPD's street takeover task force reported five vehicles being towed, nine citations issued and one arrest. Police said they are still reviewing whether additional arrests or citations were issued by district officers who were also on scene.

A large crowd could be seen at the intersection of 12th and Mitchell, with cars revving up their engines and people dancing to music in the streets.
CBS 58 spoke to some of the participants who said that they came from a festival two miles south.
Police have given limited information but were seen blocking off multiple streets in the area.
