MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One person is dead after getting into a crash with an ATV overnight on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Milwaukee police say around midnight, a 23-year-old driver collided with the ATV carrying two riders near N. 28th St. and W. Concordia Ave.
CBS 58 News spoke with Shantarya, a woman who has lived on 28th St. for over a decade.
“It don’t surprise me, it ain’t nothing new," she said. "People drive over here every day with four wheelers, crazy, speeding, riding down with big groups, that ain’t nothing new. Somebody dying at the end of the corner right there, that’s not nothing new.”
Shantarya says it's normal for there to be reckless driving in the neighborhood.
“This ain’t the first time reckless driving happened, this ain’t the first time somebody gotten killed over here," she said.
Officials say the riders of the ATV were transported to the hospital, where one of the victims died.
The 23-year-old driver of the striking vehicle has been arrested. Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
